Services
Services offered: Installation, maintenance, consultation/education.
Installation: Gardens are designed with aesthetics, ecological function, and personal goals in mind. We can work on an existing garden bed or create new garden beds.
Ecological function:
Right plant, right place
Blooms for all 3 seasons
Food sources for all 4 seasons if possible
Recreates natural ecosystems as much as possible
Reduces long-term maintenance by crowding out nonnative invasive plants with native plants.
Since I do the maintenance of native gardens, I understand first hand how gardens can change over time and what is necessary to allow them to grow to their full potential in conjunction with your garden goals.
Aesthetics
Use plants that work well together based on ecological function, bloom times, size, sociability (aggressiveness of plant), architectural plants, repeated patterns
Personal goals
Do you want your garden to produce food?
Do you want your garden to produce medicine?
Do you want a sensory garden?
Do you want 4 season interest?
Do you want privacy?
Maintenance: Native gardens are not maintenance free. However, properly installed and maintained native gardens should reduce the amount of maintenance needed. The goal of maintenance is to keep reducing the amount of maintenance over time. Below is a list of maintenance services offered. I offer maintenance to all native gardens and not just gardens I install.
